St. Paul’s, SSA win bowling matches at Hammond

St. Paul’s and St. Scholastica were victorious in prep bowling league action Wednesday at Tangi Lanes in Hammond.

The Wolves came from behind to defeat Holden 17-10.

The Rockets jumped on top, winning game one 5-3, shooting 1,213. The Wolves came back to tie it by winning the second game 5-3. St. Paul’s won the third and deciding game 6-2 with a 1,241 game and won total pins to account for the final margin.

Jack Bertucci fired a 290 game as part of a 640 series for St. Paul’s while Peter Bertucci shot 622, including games of 233 and 209. Jonathan Wellmeyer had a 615 series, including games of 217 and 215. Joseph Brown had a 608 series which included games of 220 and 203. Jacob Bounds had a 595 series, including games of 212 and 204.

For the Rockets, Mason Blount fired a 666 series, including games of 235 and 233 while Lane Courtney had a 646 series, including games of 234 and 221. Carter Alphonso had a 618 series on games of 203, 207 and 208.

St. Scholastica defeated Ponchatoula 17-10.

The Doves took game one 7-1 and added to the lead with a 5-3 victory in game two. The Greenies won game three 6-2 but it was not enough as SSA won total pins.

Hannah Pye was best for St. Scholastica with a 503 series, including games of 179 and 177 while Maddy Pye had a 486 series, including a 187 game. Alana Knight led Ponchatoula with a 507 series which included games of 180 and 171 while Alexis Newman had a 485 series with games of 173 and 170.
