St. Martin’s-Abramson football game canceled for safety concerns
The game between St. Martin’s Episcopal and Abramson, scheduled for Thursday night at Joe Brown Stadium, has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. It will not be made up.
St. Martin’s Head of School Whitney Samuel Drennan posted a message to the the school’s community stating that the reason for the cancellation was a possible threat at the game.
“As always, the safety of our student is our top priority,” Drennan said. “Earlier today, we were made aware of a possible threat at the upcoming football game on Thursday night. We immediately contacted local law enforcement and filed a report. Out of an abundance of caution, we will not be playing the game on Thursday. This cancellation will not impact our record or season. We appreciate your continued support of our students and athletic programs.”
The Saints (3-0) will next play at The Willow School a week from Friday.
The Commodores (3-0) will host Madison on December 30.
It will be St. Martin’s Episcopal Night on Ken Trahan’s Original Prep Football Report Friday night from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. at Francesca’s by Katie’s Restaurant at 515 Harrison Avenue on NASH ICON, 106.1 FM and at www.nashfm1061.com.
