Ty Monica

Ty Monica, SCC class of 1998, will serve as the Head Baseball Coach for the 2023–2024 school year. Monica, son of the all-time winningest River Parish football coach Frank Monica, is the winningest softball coach in St. Charles Catholic history.

Over the past 21 years of teaching and coaching at SCC, Monica has built a legacy of success. He served as assistant baseball coach from 2003 to 2006 and as head softball coach from 2007 to 2023.

Monica’s softball coaching career is a series of achievements. With a record of 381 wins, 117 losses, and 1 tie, the Lady Comets have had much to celebrate under Monica’s leadership–including 13 state tournament appearances, three runner-up titles since 2018, and a state championship in 2008.

Monica is married to fellow SCC alumnus Denille Monica, class of 1997, and is the proud father of SCC alumnus Riley Monica, class of 2021, and current Comets students Jackson and Brooks.

Monica inherits a storied baseball program from Coach Wayne Stein, who will continue serving as SCC’s Athletic Director and head football coach. SCC Baseball boasts three state championships in the past five years, including 2023’s back-to-back win streak.

Stein said of the coaching transition, “I’m confident of the program’s continued success under Coach Ty Monica. He’s an outstanding coach who embodies our program philosophy and knows what it takes to win. We’re excited to see more dynamic Comet Baseball this year.”
