Southland Conference releases updated women’s soccer schedule

Nine member institutions set for 54-game slate

FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference has released its 2022 women’s soccer conference schedule, announced by commissioner Chris Grant Monday.

The 54-game slate opens with a pair of league contests on Fri., Sept. 9, and runs through Fri., Oct. 28. After the conference added Texas A&M-Commerce and welcomed back Lamar, it brought the soccer-playing membership to nine teams: HBU, UIW, Lamar, McNeese, Nicholls, Northwestern State, Southeastern, Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The schedule pits all nine schools against each other once with each team playing home-and-homes against four institutions. Opening weekend features McNeese visiting Nicholls and Texas A&M-Commerce hosting HBU in the Lions’ first conference match as a member of the league.

UIW and Northwestern State will meet twice in a rematch of last year’s Southland Conference Tournament title match with the first taking place in Natchitoches on Sept. 11. The Cardinals will host the matchup on the penultimate matchday of the regular season.

Following the regular-season action, all nine teams will square off at the 2022 Southland Conference Soccer Tournament, hosted by Northwestern State Nov. 2-6 in Natchitoches, La.
