Spring list includes 977 student-athletes from around the league

Spring 2022 Commissioner’s Honor Roll Southland Academic Awards

FRISCO, Texas – Southland Conference Commissioner Chris Grant announced 977 student-athletes from across 11 sports have been named to the 2022 Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Spring sports from the Southland include baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, golf, softball, tennis and track & field.

The Southland Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) in the semester of their respective sport.

Of the 977 students named to the list, 25 percent (243) held a flawless 4.0 GPA throughout the spring term.

“We are so proud of the way our Southland Conference student-athletes continue to achieve academically and competitively,” Commissioner Chris Grant said. “The Southland and its member institutions are focused on supporting these individuals as they each work toward graduation and lifelong success.”

Among the eight full-time Southland institutions, UIW led the way with 146 student-athletes, followed closely by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with 139 and McNeese came in next with 131. Men’s and women’s tennis affiliate member NJIT added 16 honorees, while Augusta (15) and Francis Marion (7) golf student-athletes were also recognized.
