Southland Conference announces Fall 2021 Commissioner’s Honor Roll
FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference announced its 644 student-athletes from across 37 teams and five sports for the Fall 2021 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Fall sports from the Southland include football, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball.
The Southland Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) in the semester of their respective sport.
Of the 644 students named to the list, 22 percent (143) held a flawless 4.0 GPA throughout the fall term.
“We are so proud of the way our Southland Conference student-athletes continue to achieve academically and competitively,” Commissioner Tom Burnett said. “The Southland and its member institutions are focused on supporting these individuals as they each work toward graduation and lifelong success.”
Among the eight Southland institutions, UIW led the way with 106 student-athletes, followed closely by HBU with 105 and McNeese came in next with 95.
Southland Conference champions Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball (15 selections) and Northwestern State women’s soccer (24) topped the honorees among their respective sports. Southeastern soccer matched the Lady Demons with 24 members of its roster earning a spot on the honor roll.
Football champions UIW led all teams with 55 total selections. HBU added 53 football players, while McNeese, Nicholls, Northwestern State and Southeastern each had more than 40 representatives from their football squads qualify.
New Orleans topped the cross-country lists with 11 runners on the men’s side and 12 runners on the women’s side.
