Southern University has won a record 26 Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball titles in the last 60 years, but none in the last decade.

The Jaguars will look to snap that 10-year drought and add to their record total Sunday when it meets Alabama State in the conference championship game at 11:30 a.m.

Southern (31-22) reached the final after a come-from-behind 7-6 victory over Texas Southern Saturday afternoon, while Alabama State eliminated Grambling 5-3.

The Jaguars trailed 6-1 before rallying. Jackson Cullen and Connor Whalen combined for 5 1/3 shutout innings of relief while Southern’s offense scored three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to tie the game. Hampton Hudson’s sacrifice fly in the seventh proved to be the game-winner.

Alabama State (28-25) kept Sunday’s final from being an all-Louisiana showdown with its victory over Grambling. Terrell McCall struck out 10 over eight innings to eliminate the Tigers (27-25).

Tickets for Sunday’s championship game are $10 for adults and $5 for youths (children under 10 or high school or college students with a valid ID). The game will be televised nationally by ESPNews.
