CONWAY, Ark. – Central Arkansas made its first nine shots of the floor and never looked back on the way to a 75-33 victory over Southeastern Louisiana in Southland Conference women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Farris Center.

The Lady Lions (9-13, 4-7 Southland) posted their lowest point total of the season, shooting just 27.7 percent (13-for-47) from the floor in the loss. Central Arkansas (9-12, 4-7 Southland) avenged last month’s loss in Hammond with the lopsided victory.

Caitlyn Williams led Southeastern with 10 points and shared team-high honors with Aminat Jubril with six rebounds apiece.

Kamry Orr led three Sugar Bears in double figures with 23 points, while Alana Canady and Antonija Bojic finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Canady and Hannah Langhi shared the team lead for UCA with six rebounds each.

Central Arkansas made all nine of its field goal attempts in the opening period to jump out to a 28-10 lead after the opening period. The Lady Lions were held to just four points in the second quarter, as UCA closed the period on a 16-0 run to go into halftime with a 45-14 advantage.

The second half did not go any better for the Lady Lions. The Sugar Bears’ lead grew to as many as 44 points on the way to the victory.

The 33 points were the fewest scored by Southeastern since a 77-31 loss at Colorado State on Dec. 2, 2016. Saturday’s output also marked the lowest by a Lady Lion squad in a Southland Conference game since a 58-33 loss at then-league foe UT Arlington on Feb. 25, 2006.

Saturday’s game will be the first of two straight on the road for the Lady Lions. On Wednesday, SLU heads to San Antonio, Texas for a 6:30 p.m. Southland contest at Incarnate Word. The Southeastern-UIW contest can be heard live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the Lions Game Day Experience, RadioFX and TuneIn Radio apps.
