Jay Artigues

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University Director of Athletics Jay Artigues has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee, effective Sept. 1, 2021.

Artigues, who is completing his eighth year as the SLU athletic director, will serve a four-year term on the committee that provides administrative oversight of the Division I Baseball Championship, including the College World Series along with the selection and seeding of the 64-team bracket.

“I’m really excited to be serving on the baseball committee for the next four years,” Artigues said. “It’s an honor and privilege to represent both Southeastern and the Southland Conference on a national level. I look forward to working with a great group of administrators from around the country.”

Under Artigues’ guidance, Southeastern has hosted the Southland Conference Softball Tournament twice, in addition to the conference’s baseball tournament, cross country championships, track and field championships, and numerous state high school championships.

SLU is once again slated to host multiple conference tournaments this upcoming 2021-22 athletic year.

During his tenure SLU athletic facilities have also undergone several enhancements, including high-profile installations of LED lighting (baseball, softball, men’s basketball / women’s basketball / volleyball) and artificial turf (baseball, softball, football / soccer).

In association with conference media partners, more than 60 regular-season SLU athletic home events aired on ESPN+ during the 2020-21 school year. A full 77 percent of those broadcasts were produced in-house by athletic department personnel.
