Southeastern beats Nicholls spring 2021 River Bell
Southeastern, the preseason Southland Conference favorite, is ranked in the Top 20 of FCS polls entering the 2021 fall campaign.

Southeastern Louisiana is ranked 17th and Nicholls State is No. 23 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll, released Monday morning by the American Football Coaches Association.

The Lions are up four spots from the No. 21 ranking received in the final spring coaches poll. The Colonels have the same ranking from the spring poll. The Colonels were slotted at No. 22 in the Stats Perform preseason poll.

Southern received votes for the top 25 as well. The Jaguars are ranked 20th in the CBS Sports preseason rankings.

It is the third preseason poll that Southeastern and Nicholls State are ranked in.

Southeastern opens the season Sept. 4 at home against North Alabama while Nicholls visits Memphis.
