Southeastern La, drops 12-Inning baseball exhibition to Northwest Florida State

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana came up on the wrong end of an 8-4 score Friday afternoon in a 12-inning fall exhibition at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field against Northwest Florida State College.

The Raiders scored four runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-2 lead and never looked back. Three late runs padded their lead.

Northwest Florida State out-hit the Lions, 15-10.

Senior catcher Jonathan Parker (New Orleans, Louisiana) led Southeastern at the plate, going 2-for-2 with one run scored. Brennan Breaud, a senior from Norco, Louisiana, and Trey Harrington, a sophomore from Lakeland, Tennessee, each went 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI while splitting time at shortstop.

Trey Shaffer (1-for-4 with an RBI double), Eli Johnson (1-for-3 with two runs scored), Cade Pipoly (1-for-4 with an RBI single), Nick Ray (1-for-2), Nathan Pilutti (1-for-6) and Bryce Steckler (1-for-5) each picked up hits for the Lions.

Southeastern used 13 pitchers, none working longer than a single inning.

Carlisle Koestler (starter), Mason Knopp, Kade Granier, Kyle Flettrich, Jared Biddy, Dwain Guice, Peyton Lee and Bryce Tassin each turned in a scoreless inning for the Lions.

UP NEXT
Southeastern opens the Heart of a Lion Fall World Series at 2 p.m. Sunday. The final two games of the intrasquad series are Monday and Tuesday, both at 6 p.m. The three-game series closes out the fall practice period for the squad.
