Southeastern adds Allasia Washington of Madison Prep for 2022 women’s basketball class
HAMMOND, La. – Guard Allasia Washington will continue her academic and athletic endeavors as a member of the Southeastern Louisiana University women’s basketball program, Southeastern head coach Ayla Guzzardo announced on the opening of the 2022-23 signing period on Wednesday.
A 5-7 guard from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Washington is entering her senior season at Madison Prep. The reigning Class 3A State Tournament Most Valuable Player, Washington will play her collegiate career in the same building she helped her high school team win the state championship in March.
“Allasia is a great addition for our program,” Guzzardo commented. “She had a great summer and continues to grow on both ends of the court. She’s an aggressive, dynamic guard who will fit into our system very well. Allasia’s ability to score at all three levels will allow her to give us good minutes early in her career.”
Washington averaged 16 points per game as a junior for Madison Prep on the way to being named first team All-State. She tallied 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in the state championship game to earn Most Outstanding Player honors. As a sophomore, she was an all-state and all-metro selection after helping the young Chargers to a state semifinal appearance.
Washington’s future teammates will be back in action on Thursday, traveling to Texas Tech for a 7 p.m. contest in Lubbock, Texas. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
