Softball: Riverdale handles McMain; Riverside rallies past Assumption
Area Prep Softball Report for Saturday, April 10
Riverdale handled Warren Easton 12-2 at home Friday at Jefferson Playground.
Lawren DiBella pitched five innings, striking out eight while walking three to pick up the win. Morgan Williams went 2-fof-3 with three RBI while Lindsey Johnston was 3-for-3 with two RBI. Kailah Major and Je’kira Cade each drove in a pair of runs.
Riverdale (9-8) has now five straight games and will host Higgins Monday at Jefferson Playground at 4 p.m. while the Eagles (4-4) will host Booker T. Washington Monday at 4 p.m.
At Napoleonville, Riverside Academy found itself being shutout going to the sixth inning.
The Rebels awakened, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth and a run in the seventh as the Lady Rebels downed the Lady Mustangs 4-2.
Assumption scored two runs in the bottom of the second and that held up until the sixth inning.
Alainah Felton was the star for Riverside, pitching a complete game victory and belting a home run.
Sarah Alleman had two hits, including a triple and a single, and drove in both runs for Assumption.
Raegan Alleman took the loss, going the distance, allowing four runs on eight hits.
Riverside (17-7) returns to action Monday, hosting Chalmette at 4:30 p.m. while Assumption (17-9) will host Berwick Monday at 4 p.m.
