Softball: Riverside, John Ehret enjoy easy wins

Area Prep Softball Report for Wednesday, April 7

Riverside handled Dutchtown 8-1 in a non-district game at Reserve.

The Lady Rebels scored three runs in the bottom of the first before the Griffins cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the top of the second. Riverside answered with two runs in the bottom of the second and it was 5-1. The Lady Rebels extended the lead to 7-1 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth and added a run in the sixth to complete the scoring.

Alonah Felton was 2-for-3 with two RBI while Lea St. Pierre belted a two-run home run for the Lady Rebels. Camryn Loving had a hit and drove in two runs and Emily Vicknair added an RBI for Riverside.

Vicknair went the distance, allowing just one run on three hits to pick up the victory. Vicknair walked three and struck out two, using just 87 pitches.

Riverside (14-6) won its third straight game while Dutchtown (11-14) has dropped eight of its last 11 games.

The Lady Rebels host Lutcher today at 4:30 p.m. while the Griffins will host Holden today at 5 p.m.

In District 8-5A play, John Ehret remained unbeaten in the league with a 23-3 victory over Bonnabel at home.

Lucie Llorens was the star of the game, going the distance to pick up the win and she went 3-for-3, belting a grand slam. Aiyanna Atchison was also 3-for-3 for the Lady Patriots.

Ehret (10-9, 5-0) will travel to Chalmette Monday at 4 p.m. in a battle for the district championship. Bonnabel (1-10, 0-4) will host Patrick Taylor today at 4 p.m. in a non-district contest.
