Softball: Riverside blanks Lutcher
Area Prep Softball Report for Saturday, March 23
Riverside shutout Lutcher 4-0 in Reserve.
The Rebels scored the only run they would need in the bottom of the first inning and added two runs in the second. Riverside finished the scoring with a run in the fifth inning.
Emily Vicknair was outstanding on the mound, pitching six shutout innings, allowing just one hit in six innings with no walks and two strikeouts.
Caroline Keller took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Avarie Hymel had two hits and two RBI while Camryn Loving had two hits and an RBI to pace the Rebels while Lexie Johnson had a hit and an RBI.
Maria Detillier had the only two hits for Lutcher.
It was the third straight win for Riverside (12-5-1). The Rebels will travel to face Central Monday afternoon while the Bulldogs (12-10) will host Tara next Tuesday.
