By all accounts, Mandeville has a fine softball team this season.

The Skippers (16-5) have won 10 of their last 11 games, playing their best ball of the season. That is the good news.

The potentially bad news is what awaits Mandeville Monday as red hot Hahnville heads across the Causeway Bridge to take on the Skippers at 4 p.m. in an intriguing non-district contest.

The Lady Tigers have won 24 straight games and scored 10 or runs in 17 of those victories. Hahnville has won 13 of those games by the Mercy rule, including their last four wins.

Hahnville is the top-ranked team in the most recent LHSAA Class 5A power rankings while Mandeville is eighth.
