John Ehret remained unbeaten in District 8-5A with a convincing 16-1 victory at home over Landry-Walker Thursday in a game shortened to six innings by the run-rule.

Senior Selena Parks did it all for the Patriots, going 5-for-5 with a grand slam and 11 RBI. She also pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits.

“Selena was terrific for us,” Ehret coach Sheena Smith said. “You don’t see a player with 11 RBI in a game. She pitched well. Her bat is really hot right now and she is placing her pitches well. She is doing a great job on the mound and at the plate. I am very happy for her. She has worked hard to get to this point. We are playing well. The goal is to win the district championship and we control our chance to do so. We are so excited about the chance to win district. The girls and coaches ahve gone through a lot this season off the field and it seems we are all there for each other and the field is our happy place. We are playing well and having fun.”

The Patriots (10-9, 5-0) won for the fifth straight time. They will play at East Jefferson Tuesday at 4 p.m. before hosting defending district champion Chalmette next Thursday at 4 p.m. The Owls and Higgins are tied for second at 4-1 in district play.

The Chargin’ Bucs (4-10, 1-4) will host West Jefferson next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
