Softball Report: Covington downs Hammond, schedule Friday to battle weather

Area Prep Softball Report for Fri., April 5

Rained washed out nearly every game in south Louisiana Thursday, though a few lucky teams were able to get scheduled games played.

Vandebilt Catholic blanked Ellender 10-0 at home. It was the fifth straight win for the Terriers.

In the Baton Rouge area, St. Amant blanked rival East Ascension 11-0 while Walker hammered Central 12-0.

In District 6-5A, Covington defeated Hammond 6-2 at home, earning a split of the season series with the Tornadoes. Hammond had downed the Lions 8-7 at Hammond on March 14.

Covington (8-14, 5-6) will conclude its District 6-5A schedule Saturday at 11 a.m. while Hammond (5-17, 1-10) will host Ponchatoula today at 3:30 p.m.
