Softball Report: Belle Chasse wins at Zachary
The ride back from Zachary on Monday was a good one for Belle Chasse, following a 7-2 win.
Belle Chasse scored twice in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead as Felicia Lynn singled and scored before the Lady Broncos cut the deficit to 2-1 with a run in the bottom of the first. The Cardinals made it 4-1 in the top of the third on an RBI single by Kelsey Johnson and another unearned run before Zachary cut the deficit to 4-2 with a run in the bottom of the frame.
Two more unearned runs scored in the top of the fourth to make it 6-2 before Aunie Rethmeyer made it 7-2 in the top of the fifth with an RBI single. Zachary got the final run in the bottom of the fifth to complete the scoring. Brookelyn Sweeney picked up the win for Belle Chasse.
The win was the sixth straight for the Cardinals (11-1). Belle Chasse returns to action today at 4 p.m. at home against Vandebilt Catholic. Zachary (7-5) also returns to action today at home at 5 p.m. against Catholic-Pointe Coupee.
