Softball: Ponchatoula handles Slidell at home

Area Prep Softball Report for Sunday, April 4

Ponchatoula whipped Slidell 5-1 in a District 6-5A contest at home Saturday.

The Green Wave broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the third and added three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull away.

The Tigers scored their lone run in the top of the sixth inning.

Lily Crittenden went the distance, pitching a two-hitter. Crittenden walked two and struck out six, using 100 pitches. Crittenden helped herself, belting a two-run home run while Sadie Wells had two hits and two RBI. Brilynn Singh was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Ponchatoula (16-10, 7-3) will play at Mandeville at 3:30 p.m. Monday in a rescheduled district contest while Slidell (10-10-10) lost for the fourth straight time and will host Haynes Academy at 4 p.m. Monday.
