Softball Playoffs: Belle Chasse, Lutcher eliminated in state quarterfinals

Area Prep Softball Playoff Report for Sunday, April 25

A good run in the playoffs by Belle Chasse has ended.

The seventh-seeded Cardinals fell to No. 2 Beau Chene 3-1 in the Class 4A quarterfinals.

The Gators scored all three runs in the bottom of the third inning and that held up.

Mallory Pitre pitched three-hitter for Beau Chene, walking just one. Leila Heller took the loss for Belle Chasse. Gracie Bellard had two hits and an RBI while Cloe Bonvillain had two doubles for Beau Chene.

Kyla Harden drove in the only run for the Cardinals with a fifth inning double.

Belle Chasse finished 12-13. Beau Chene (22-2) advances to the semifinals in Sulphur at Frasch Park to take on No. 3 seed Tioga next Friday.

In Class 3A, No. 3 Jena eliminated No. 6 Lutcher 2-0.

In Class 2A, No. 12 French Settlement upset No. 4 Winnfield 3-2.

The Lions advance to Sulphur to face top seed Many next Friday in the semifinals.
