NACOGDOCHES, Texas — For the second consecutive game, Northwestern State couldn’t overcome a big inning — and one big swing for that matter — at Stephen F. Austin.

The Lady Jacks hit their second grand slam in as many days en route to a 6-0 victory over the Lady Demons on Sunday.

The loss drops NSU to 17-15 overall and 11-7 in Southland Conference play. The win improves Stephen F. Austin to 27-8 overall and 18-0 in league action.

Junior Jensen Howell received the start and cruised through the first two innings, but couldn’t make it out of the third. She allowed five runs in 2.1 innings of work with four strikeouts, moving to 5-7 on the year.

Freshman Kenzie Seely relieved Howell and had her most effective relief outing of the season. She tossed 3.2 innings and allowed zero earned runs with a pair of strikeouts.

The Lady Demons managed four hits, and senior outfielder Kaitlyn St. Clair had 75 percent of them. Junior infielder Cayla Jones laid claim to other one.

Kassidy Wilbur made her second start of the series and third appearance. She threw all seven innings to move to 23-3 on the season.

Northwestern State returns to action Friday at home with a pair of games against Sam Houston. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 4 p.m.
