Softball: Northshore rolls past Albany

Area Prep Softball Report for Tuesday, March 30

Northshore traveled to Albany and handled the Hornets 18-5 Monday in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

The Lady Panthers scored four runs in the top of the first but Albany countered with three in the bottom of the frame.

Northshore broke the game open with eight runs in the top of the second inning to take a 12-3 lead.

The Lady Panthers made it 13-3 with a run in the top of the fourth before the Hornets scored twice in the bottom of the inning to make it 13-5.

Northshore put the game away with five runs in the top of the fifth inning.

The Lady Panthers belted 15 hits, led by Emma McCormick with three hits.

Reese Jobert had two hits and two RBI while Ashlyn Shirah drove in four runs and Whitnei Guidry drove in three. Jenna Samuel added two hits.

Kennedy Ordoyne picked up the win, going 4 1/3 innings, striking out six.

Northshore (15-4) has won six of its last seven games.

The Lady Panthers will host Chalmette Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. while Albany (2-6) will open District 8-3A play Thursday at Loranger at 6 p.m.
