Softball: Hannan, Haynes, Riverside advance to semifinals in Division II

SOFTBALL BRACKETS

Archbishop Hannan is heading back to the state semifinals.

The two-time defending Division II state champion and second seed handled No. 7 Parkview Baptist 9-4 Friday.

The Lady Eagles scored a run in the top of the second inning but the lady Hawks came up with the big inning with five runs in the bottom of the third inning. Hannan added two runs in the fourth to make it 7-1. Parkview Baptist stayed in it with three runs in the sixth but the Lady Hawks put it away with two in the bottom of the frame.

Cheyenne Jenkins had three hits and three RBI to pace Hannan and Avery Boudreaux was 3 for 3 with an RBI. Emma Burke had a two-run triple and Kristen Wegener added an RBI as Hannan registered 10 hits in the game.

Katie Salling belted a three-run homer for the Lady Eagles while Julia Strain had an RBI single.

Tristyn Baugh went the distance to get the win, allowing four runs on four hits. Baugh walked two and struck out one.

Jaci Vannorden took the loss for Parkview Baptist.

Hannan (17-11) advances to Broussard for the semifinals to take on No. 3 Vandebilt Catholic next Friday at the St. Julien Complex.

The Lady Terriers eliminated No. 6 Patrick Taylor 11-3.

Also in Division II, top seed Haynes Academy punched its ticket to Broussard with a 4-0 shutout win over No. 9 David Thibodaux at Westwego Playground.

The Lady Jackets scored a run in the first inning before adding a pair of runs in the third on an RBI bunt by Jiah Keller and an RBI single by Abby St. Cyr to make it 3-0.

Melissa Lopera drove in the final run on a groundout in the fourth inning.

Delaney Walker picked up the win, going four scoreless innings before Hailey Peterson pitched the final three scoreless frames for the save.

Haynes (25-5) advances to face No. 4 St. Thomas More in the semifinals. The Lady Cougars blanked No. 5 Academy of Our Lady 10-0 in six innings in Lafayette.

Haynes beat St. Thomas More 7-5 in the semifinals a year ago before falling to Archbishop Hannan 12-2 in the title game.

In Division IV, No. 3 Riverside Academy advanced to the semifinals with a 9-5 win over No. 6 Cedar Creek.

Camryn Loving led the way for the Lady Rebels with a pair of home runs and a sacrifice fly. Corrin Cashio, Alainah Felton and Ava Fernandez also homered for Riverside.

The Lady Rebels (29-6) will meet No. 2 Calvary Baptist in a semifinal rematch of a year ago when the Lady Cavs handled Riverside 13-3.
