Softball: Dominican takes third straight with win over Assumption
Area Prep Softball Report for Saturday, March 18
With rain and wet fields cancelling a lot of playing fields Friday, the schedule was very limited.
Dominican was able to play its game with Assumption and won 11-6 in the Parkview Baptist Tournament.
Dominican scored in all but one inning to post the win.
After the Mustangs took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning, Dominican answered with two runs in the top of the second and a run in the third to lead 3-1. Assumption tied it at 3-3 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Dominican scored three times in the top of the fourth to lead 6-3 but the Mustangs cut the deficit to 6-4 with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Dominican extended the lead in each of the next three innings, scoring twice in the fifth and sixth frames and once in the seventh to make it 11-4 before Assumption scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to complete the scoring.
Dominican banged out 11 hits, including home runs by Evelyn Booth and Mykail Lusco. Booth drove in three runs while Sophia Martin had two hits and three RBI. Ava Lusco and Raegan Porche each had two hits and an RBI and Aubry Daigrenpont had a hit and an RBI.
Daigrenpont picked up the win, going five innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
Dominican (11-6) has won three straight games and will play Doyle Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
