Softball: Dominican, Chapelle score wins Tuesday

Area Prep Softball Report for Wednesday, March 30

On Tuesday at LaSalle Park, Dominican handled Haynes Academy 7-3.

Dominican jumped on top with two runs in the top of the first before the Yellow Jackets answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to make it 2-1. Dominican scored twice in the third inning to make it 4-1 and broke it open with two runs in the fifth and it was 6-1. Dominican scored a run in the seventh inning and Haynes completed the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the frame to complete the scoring.

Lauren Sekinger picked up the win, pitching a complete game. Sekinger allowed three runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out five. Sekinger was 2 for 2 at the plate with a triple, double and four runs scored.

Sydney Sherman was 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBI, Reagan Porche had a hit and two RBI, Mykail Lusco added a hit and an RBI while Ava Lusco had a double and an RBI for Dominican.

Delaney Walker took the loss for the Yellow Jackets. Hailey Peterson led the Haynes attack, going 4 for 4 with a home run, double, two singles and a pair of RBI.

Both teams return to action Thursday.

Dominican (13-6) will be at Belle Chasse at 5 p.m. while Haynes (16-4) will host Mount Carmel Academy at 5 p.m.

Archbishop Chapelle won on the road 6-2 over Thomas Jefferson.

The Chipmunks scored four runs in the third and two in the top of the fourth. The Lady Jaguars got single runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

Giardina picked up the win, pitching a five-hitter, allowing just one earned run, walking four and striking out 12. Giardina helped her own cause with three hits and two RGI.

Allie Domangue homered, singled and drove in two runs while Kaylee Roche also drove in a pair of runs for Chapelle.

Aubrynn Arcement took the loss for Thomas Jefferson. Ryleigh Dugas and Alayna Cardenal each drove in a for the Lady Jaguars.

Chapelle (14-9) will host E.D. White Catholic Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Butch Duhe Playground while Thomas Jefferson (10-12) hosts Albany Thursday at 6 p.m.
