Softball: Country Day rolls over St. Mary’s. Riverdale pounds Ben Franklin to extend win streak

Area Prep Softball Report for Tuesday, March 8

Country Day evened its record with a convincing 15-0 victory over St. Mary’s Academy Monday at Carrollton in a game shortened to 2 ½ innings by the mercy rule.

Junior multi-sport star Ellie Schneider pitched three perfect innings for the win and she added an inside-the-park home run as Country Day banged out 10 hits. Schneider is a Kansas volleyball commit.

The Cajuns (2-2) return to action today, opening District 9-1A play against Ecole Classique at 4 p.m. at Carrollton. St. Mary’s Academy (3-3) returns to action Wednesday against Warren Easton.

Make it five straight wins for Riverdale.

The Lady Rebels blanked Ben Franklin 10-0 in a game shortened to four and a half innings by the mercy rule at Jefferson Playground Monday

Lawren Dibella gave up just one hit and struck out five and starred at the plate as well, going 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI. Morgan Williams was 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBI while Kerrielle Brown went 3 for 3 with two RBI.

Riverdale (5-3) returns to action Wednesday against New Orleans Science & Math at 4:30 p.m. at Jefferson Playground.

The Lady Falcons (1-2) are back in action today against St. Katharine Drexel at 4:30 p.m.
