Area Prep Softball Report for Tuesday, March 2

Chalmette downed Academy of Our Lady 11-4 at home Monday.

The Penguins actually jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four runs in the top of the first inning before Chalmette answered with a run in the bottom of the first inning.

The Owls plated five runs in the bottom of the second to take a 6-4 lead before adding a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-4. Chalmette scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to close out the scoring.

Money Littles and Aniya Harris each drove in three runs while Rikki Adams and Jade Hill each had two hits and an RBI to pace a 10-hit attack for Chalmette.

Mikayla Dennis was the winning pitcher, going the distance, allowing three earned runs on five hits. Dennis walked one and struck out six. Alexis Davis took the loss, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits, walking six and striking out five. Alyssa Hartman drove in a pair of runs for the Penguins..

The Owls (3-3) play at Cabrini Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. while Academy of Our Lady (3-3) will host Riverdale at 4 p.m.
