Softball: Belle Chasse edges Fontainebleau with furious rally, Lakeshore hammers Slidell

Area Prep Softball Report for Tuesday, April 13

In a wild contest, Belle Chasse edged Fontainebleau 8-7 at home Monday.

The Cardinals trailed 7-3 going to the bottom of the seventh.

Freshman Caitlyn Clark capped a five-run rally to win it with a walk-off single.

Olivia Clark went 3-for-3 with a triple to pace the Belle Chasse offense.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Cardinals (10-12). Belle Chasse will host Chalmette Thursday at 5 p.m. The Bulldogs (17-8) saw a three-game win streak end and will play at Haynes Academy Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Lakeshore won easily at Slidell by a 15-2 margin in six innings.

The Lady Tigers took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first but the Titans scored three in the top of the third to make a 3-1 lead. Slidell scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and cut the deficit to 3-2.

Lakeshore then broke it wide open with seven runs in the top of the fifth and five more in the sixth to end it.

Alara Taylor and Landry Taylor each had three hits and four RBI while Claire Williams also drove in four runs. Abby Colwart had three hits for the Lady Titans.

Cara Rankin went the distance to pick up the win, striking out five.

Lakeshore (8-10) will host Chalmette Wednesday at 5 p.m. while Slidell (10-15-1) lost its eighth straight game and the Lady Tigers host Hammond Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a District 6-5A contest.
