Soccer and volleyball schedule changes for south Louisiana Southland schools due to Ida, COVID

In the wake of Hurricane Ida, the Southland Conference has announced rescheduled dates and times for a pair of home-and-homes each for Nicholls and Southeastern.

The Colonels’ road matches against UIW and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will now be played Friday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m., respectively. Nicholls will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UIW on Friday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 24, respectively.

Thibodaux and surrounding areas suffered severe damage in the path of Ida, and recovery efforts are ongoing.

The Lady Lions’ road matches against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UIW will now be played Friday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m., respectively. Both matches were originally scheduled to be in Hammond but the wide spread power outages from Ida have halted home events in Strawberry Stadium. Southeastern will now host UIW and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 24, respectively.

Meanwhile, McNeese volleyball’s Friday matches at Texas-Arlington have been canceled due to COVID-19 issues within the UTA program.

McNeese (5-3) will return to action next Tuesday to host Prairie View at. 6:30 p.m. at the McNeese Rec Complex.
