Soccer: St. Paul’s handles Hammond, Jesuit treks to Catholic
Top-ranked and four-time defending state champion St. Paul’s rolled on unbeaten in-state with a convincing 6-0 win Friday night at Hunter Stadium in District 4-1 action.
John Gardner led the way for the Wolves (17-2) with a pair of goals while James Bradford, Robby Ferrant, Colin Moser and Justin Savoie each added a goal for St. Paul’s.
Both teams return to district play Tuesday evening with he Wolves playing at Ponchatoula at 7 p.m. while the Lions (8-3-2) host Fontainebleau at 7 p.m.
In top action today involving a pair of Division I contenders Jesuit travels to Baton Rouge to take on Catholic High at 11:30 a.m.
The Bears (10-2-1), who have won two straight, were second while the Blue Jays (13-3-4), who have won four straight matches, were 21st in the most recent LHSAA Division I power rankings released earlier this week.
