Soccer: SSA downs Lakeshore; St. Paul’s Invitational opens today

Area Prep Soccer Report for Friday, Dec. 21

In a battle of Northshore rivals, St. Scholastica downed Lakeshore 3-1 Friday.

The Doves took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by Sydney Vincens, who then put home two more goals in the second half to complete a hat trick.

Both teams return to action on Dec. 27 in a tournament at Lakeshore with the host Titans (8-3) taking on Acadiana and SSA (5-0-2) facing St. Thomas More.

In boys action, the St. Paul’s Invitational opens today with four matches as seven teams will participate over the two day event.

St. Paul’s is the favorite, with Catholic of Baton Rouge, Ocean Springs (MS), Denham Springs, Brother Martin, John Ehret and Gulfport (MS) also participating.
