Soccer: Rummel, Destrehan boys, Hannan girls win with clean sheets

Archbishop Rummel and Destrehan scored shutout victories Tuesday.
It was the first win of the season for Raiders courtesy of a 3-0 result at East St. John. Rummel scored all three goals in the first half.
The Raiders (1-3) will next face De La Salle Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the Ascension Christian Tournament while the Wildcats (1-2) will host Tara next Tuesday.
The Wildcats of Destrehan scored an impressive 2-0 win over always tough Newman at Lupin Field.
After a scoreless first half, sophomore Owen Alack and senior Rafael Soto each scored a goal for the Wildcats in the second half to provide the margin of victory. Soto added an assist on Alack’s goal while Nicholas Morrow had the other assist. Kader Dunn had a clean sheet in goal.
Destrehan (1-1-1) next travels to Jesuit Tuesday at 5 p.m. while the Greenies (1-2) will host Thomas Jefferson Thursday at 7 p.m.
In girls action, Archbishop Hannan put it away early, scoring eight goals in the first half to end it in an 8-0 victory over Kenner Discovery at home.
Senior Emily Barre and sophomore Angelle Wolfe each scored a pair of goals for the Hawks while Maddie Rogers, Zoe Schuster, Julia Swank and Natalie Valle each added a goal.
Hannan (2-1) returns to action Thursday at Houma Christian at 7 p.m. while the Swamp Owls (0-4) face New Orleans Military & Maritime Friday.
