Area Prep Soccer Report for Sunday, Jan. 16

Coming off a disappointing tie at home against a good Newman side, Archbishop Rummel, ranked sixth in the most recent LHSAA power rankings, faced another tough test Saturday at home against H.L. Bourgeois, ranked 16th in the power rankings.

The Raiders dominated from the start, scoring three goals in the first half and adding two second half goals in a convincing 5-0 victory in Metairie.

Sophomore Christopher Wallace scored a pair of goals to pace the Rummel attack. Juniors CJ Koppeis, Isaac Leon and Tobo Takpor each added a goal.

Rummel (17-4-2) returns to action Tuesday, hosting Lakeshore at 3:30 p.m. while the Braves (11-2-4), who had not lost since Nov. 18, will play at Central Lafourche Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a District 5-I contest.
