Soccer: Riverdale boys, Mount Carmel girls roll Tuesday

Riverdale continued its impressive early season run in boys soccer, remaining unbeaten with a 5-0 win at Belle Chasse in the District 7-II opener for both teams.

After a scoreless first half, the Rebels erupted for five second half goals, including two each by Saad Garadi and Jose Mejia. John Pedermo added a goal to complete the scoring.

Riverdale (5-0, 1-0) travels to Pearl River Thursday for a 6 p.m. contest. The Cardinals (2-4, 0-1) host Thomas Jefferson Friday at 6:30 p.m.

In girls action, coming off of winning the Dominican Tournament, defending Division I state champion Mount Carmel blasted John Ehret 8-0 at Pan American Stadium.

It was the fifth straight win for the Cubs (11-1), who host West Jefferson today at 5 p.m. at Pan American Stadium. The loss snapped a five-game win streak for the Patriots (6-3). Ehret will host Lee High Friday at 6 p.m.
