Soccer: Riverdale boys, Dominican girls roll

A special season continued for Riverdale Thursday.

The Rebels remained unbeaten with a 2-0 victory at Chalmette. It was the seventh shutout of the year for the Rebels, who have allowed more than one goal just once all season long.

John Perdomo scored both goals for the Rebels (12-0), who were seventh in the most recent Division II power rankings. Riverdale will host Landry-Walker next Tuesday at 4 p.m.

In girls action, Dominican jumped all over Academy of the Sacred Heart with three first half goals en route to a 4-0 victory at Pan American Stadium.

Freshmen Stella French and Madelyn Smothermon each scored in the first half, along with Jasmine Ferrier. Abbie Richeson scored the second half goal.

Dominican (11-6-3) was 14th in the most recent LHSAA Division I power rankings while the Cardinals (4-5) were ninth in the Division IV rankings. Dominican will host Archbishop Hannan next Thursday while Sacred Heart opens District 7-IV action Saturday morning at Country Day at 11 a.m.
