Soccer Report: De La Salle downs Ellender

Area Prep Soccer Report for Wednesday, Nov. 25

De La Salle picked up its first win of the season Tuesday evening by downing Ellender, 5-1.

The Cavaliers led 2-0 at halftime and pulled away for the win.

Ian Helmcke, who is also the fine kicker for the Cavalier football team, starred with a pair of goals and a pair of assists. Darius Davis added a goal and a pair of assists while Henry Bougerois and Paxton Ramsey each added a goal for De La Salle.

“I am very proud of how this team is already handling adversity in such a crazy year,” De La Salle coach Alan DeRitter said. “They played focused and played creative. I’m looking forward to what can be a special season.”

The Cavaliers (1-1) return to action this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Archbishop Shaw while the Patriots (0-1) will travel to East St. John on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
