Soccer Playoffs: Holy Cross, Lusher, Catholic also reach state finals
Make it four straight trips to the Division II state title match for Holy Cross.
The top-ranked Tigers took advantage of their chances to down district rival and No. 4 Ben Franklin 3-0 at home Monday in the state semifinals.
Sophomore Stephen Treadaway put the Tigers on top, scoring on a free kick to make it 1-0 before junior Ryan Jeanfreau made it 2-0, converting a penalty kick and that was the halftime score. Sophomore Tyler Robichaux scored in the second half for the Tigers to account for the final margin.
“We were extremely good tonight,” Holy Cross coach Matt Millet said. “We were gifted an early goal and we didn’t look back. We will be very difficult to beat playing like we did tonight. I am very happy for my boys.”
