It is a banner day for Vandebilt Catholic in Lafayette.

The Terriers seek a sweep of the boys and girls state soccer championships at UL-Lafayette this evening.

In girls action, the top-seeded Lady Terriers (27-4-2) battle third-seed and unbeaten University Lab (19-0-3) at 5 p.m. at the Ragin’ Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex on the campus of UL-Lafayette. It is a battle of the two schools that have combined to win the last three Division III state titles.

The Lady Terriers are seeking their fifth state championship and third in a row. University is seeking its third title overall, having won most recently in 2015.

Vandebilt Catholic has rolled over its opponents in the playoffs by a 23-0 margin while the Cubs have been impressive as well, outscoring playoff opponents 13-1. U-High has allowed just 10 goals all season. The Lady Terriers are led by LSU signee Molly Thompson.

In boys action, it will be a renewal of “The Holy War,” a great rivalry between top-seed E.D. White Catholic (20-4-3) and sixth-seeded Vandebilt Catholic (15-8-4) at 7:30 p.m.

Vandebilt Catholic is seeking its ninth state championship, having won the Division II title in 2015. E.D. White Catholic is seeking its first-ever state title. The Cardinals reached the Division III finals in 2015, falling to St. Louis Catholic 3-2. The Cardinals vanquished the Saints 4-3 on penalty kicks in the semifinals to earn the final game appearance.

The Cardinals won both regular season matchups by 5-2 and 3-1 margins over the Terriers.
