Soccer Playoff Report: 10 New Orleans area schools among quarterfinal participants Monday
It will be a busy day in the state soccer playoff quarterfinals for area teams as 10 teams look to advance to the state semifinals.
In the boys Division IV quarterfinals, fifth-seed St. Thomas Aquinas (12-7-5) travel to fourth-seed Newman (16-4) at 4 p.m. at Lupin Field. The Greenies edged the Falcons 2-1 on Dec. 16 at Lupin Field.
In the girls Division I quarterfinals, two-time defending state champion Mount Carmel (28-2-1) heads to Slidell to battle 10th-seed Northshore (15-4-5) at 5 p.m. The Cubs downed the Lady Panthers 3-1 on Jan. 22.
Also in Division I, eighth-seeded Mandeville (19-5) travels to top-seeded Acadiana (20-1-4) at 4 p.m. The Wreckin’ Rams downed the Lady Skippers 3-2 on Dec. 29 at Mandeville.
In another Division I matchup, third-seed St. Scholastica (18-1-3) plays host to sixth-seeded West Monroe (18-6-5) at 2 p.m. at Hunter Stadium at St. Paul’s.
In Division IV, it is a battle of tradition rivals as fourth-seeded Newman (11-2-1) heads to Wenzel Field in Metairie to battle Country Day (8-7-1) at 1 p.m.
Also in Division IV, ninth-seed Academy of The Sacred Heart of New Orleans (9-8) hosts top-seed Loyola Prep (23-3-1) at 1 p.m. at Pan American Stadium.
In another Division IV matchup, tenth-seed McGehee (12-3) plays host to second-seed Ascension Episcopal (13-7) at 1 p.m. at Tad Gormley Stadium. The Blue Gators won at McGehee 3-2 on Nov. 18.
