Soccer: Pearl River boys down Lusher, Christ Episcopal girls remain unbeaten

Area Prep Soccer Report for Wednesday, Jan. 9

Pearl River scored a significant victory, defeating Lusher for the first time in school history for its second district win of the season in a District 7-III contest at Pearl River.

After a scoreless first half, the Rebels got goals from Andres Alvarado and Eduar Machado, along with assists from Logan Anglin and Hunter Martensson. Blaine Bourgeois was solid in goal with six saves.

Pearl River (8-2, 2-0) returns to district play Friday at 7 pm, hosting McMain while Lusher (8-2-2, 1-1) also returns to district action Friday, hosting Archbishop Hannan at 6 pm.

In girls action, Christ Episcopal remained unbeaten with a 7-0 victory at St. Thomas Aquinas in the district 5-IV opener for both teams at Hammond.

Mia Encinia had a huge game with three goals and an assist while Emily Hines and Lainey Connell each had a goal and an assist. Kristin Schneider and Vita Kinchen each added a goal for the Wildcats (9-0).

Christ Episcopal returns to action Friday, hosting Pope John Paul II at 5 pm while the Falcons (2-5) travel to Livonia Thursday for a 5:30 pm tilt.
