Before the ice and snow arrived, Jesuit heated up Holy Cross on the pitch of John Ryan Stadium.

The Blue Jays dominated from start to finish in a 4-0 victory over the Tigers Tuesday afternoon in Metairie. It was the only match played in the entire area, as all others scheduled were canceled due to the frigid weather, which extends to today.

Jesuit scored two goals in each half in a balanced effort.

At 24th in the latest Division I power rankings, Jesuit may be the most under-ranked team in the state in any class. The Blue Jays (14-3-5) are absolutely a contender for state honors, while four-time champion St. Paul’s remains the clear favorite.

The win will certainly help Jesuit’s power ranking as Holy Cross (12-3-1) was the top-ranked team in the most recent Division II power rankings. Jesuit’s only losses have come to St. Paul’s (twice) and to Catholic of Baton Rouge. The loss snapped a seven-game win streak for the Tigers.

Both teams return to action Thursday as Jesuit will play at Archbishop Shaw at 4 p.m. while Holy Cross hosts St. Charles Catholic at 3:30 p.m.
