Soccer: Christ Episcopal win Piney Woods tourney, SSA races past Teurlings

Area State Soccer Report for Sunday, Nov. 24

Christ Episcopal captured the Piney Woods Tournament at Covington, winning a pair of matches Saturday.

The Wildcat boys defeated Covington 7-0 on Friday and on Saturday, they defeated Pearl River 6-1 before edging Fontainebleau 1-0 in the title match.

In the win over Fontainebleau, Eli Jones led the way with a pair of goals while James Miles had a goal and an assist before the Wildcats blanked the Bulldogs for the title.

Christ Episcopal (3-1) will next play McMain on Dec. 3.

In girls action, St. Scholastica whipped Teurlings Catholic 5-1.

Mary Ella White led the way with two goals and an assist while Olivia Loukatos and Olivia Quiroz and Hailey Waterhouse each scored a goal for the Doves.

SSA (1-1) returns to action Tuesday at Vandebilt Catholic at 1 p.m.
