Soccer: Brother Martin, Jesuit, St. Paul’s win openers at SPS tourney

Local powers Brother Martin, Jesuit and St. Paul’s all won their openers in the annual St. Paul’s Invitational Tournament.

The Crusaders blasted Covington 6-1 to improve to 6-3-4 as the Lions fell to 6-2-2.

Jesuit blanked Lakeshore 3-0 as the Blue Jays improved to 6-2-2 with their fourth consecutive victory. The Titans fell to 3-4-2 with the defeat.

St. Paul’s defeated Ocean Springs, MS 2-0 as the Wolves improved to 10-1. The Greyhounds fell to 7-5-1 with the loss.

The Wolves face Brother Martin today at 10 a.m. and take on Jesuit at 2 p.m. St. Paul’s downed Jesuit 2-0 to open the season on Nov. 14 in New Orleans. The Crusaders also face Lakeshore at 4 p.m.
