Soccer: Bonnabel edges Covenant Christian, E.D. White travels to STA

Bonnabel is fighting to make the playoffs in Division I soccer. The Bruins took a step forward Thursday, edging Covenant Christian 2-1 at Joe Yenni Stadium Thursday.

After Covenant Christian took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jakeem Mosely , the Bruins tied it on a goal by Andres Santos with an assist by Aaron Salazar. Esvin Suarez provided the winning goal on a free kick for Bonnabel.

The Bruins are 29th in the most recent LHSAA Division I power rankings. The Lions were 15th in the most recent Division IV LHSAA power rankings.

The Bruins (8-7-2) return to action this evening, hosting Higgins at 6 p.m. at Joe Yenni Stadium while the Lions (8-5-4) travel to Ascension Christian Monday evening at 6:30 p.m.

In a top boys match today at 5:30 p.m., E.D. White Catholic (15-5-3), ranked second in the Division III power rankings, travel to Hammond to take on St. Thomas Aquinas (11-6-4), ranked fifth in the Division IV power rankings.
