HAMMOND, La. – Jen Pierre will continue her academic and athletic endeavors as a member of the Southeastern Louisiana University women’s basketball program, Southeastern head coach Ayla Guzzardo announced on Wednesday.

A 5-5 point guard from Amite, Louisiana, Pierre, who is in her senior season at Amite High School, is the second 2022-23 signee for the Lady Lions. At the opening of the signing period, SLU inked Madison Prep guard Allasia Washington.

“Jen is one of the top prospects in the state and a great addition for our program,” Guzzardo said. “She’s a dynamic point guard who fits our system very well. Jen’s athleticism will provide a spark for our program the moment she steps on campus. We’re excited to be able to keep a local product of her caliber from 15 minutes away right here at Southeastern.”

Pierre was an all-state performer as a sophomore for the Lady Warriors, averaging 25.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists per contest. A tremendous athlete, Pierre has also earned All-State recognition on the track in high jump and triple jump. Ranked as one of the state’s top backcourt prospects in the 2022 class, Pierre has most recently played travel ball for Louisiana United.

Pierre’s future teammates will return to the court on Friday, facing Alcorn State at 6 p.m. in Lorman, Mississippi.
