HAMMOND, La. – The addition of two student-athletes who will continue their academic and athletic endeavors as members of the Southeastern Louisiana football program completed the Lions signing class, SLU head coach Frank Scelfo announced on Wednesday at the start of the regular signing period.

The newest Lions are wide receiver Ed Magee (6-1, 180, Kentwood, La., Kentwood High School) and linebacker Dominic Lamm (6-1, 235, New Orleans, La., Holy Cross High School).

The addition of Magee and Lamm brought the Southeastern signing class total to 29. The Lions inked 23 in December, while quarterback Cole Kelley, offensive lineman Jalen Bell, wide receiver Anthony Spurlock and tight end Matt DeBlaiso were midyear additions that enrolled at Southeastern in January.

Scelfo was pleased with the last two additions of Magee and Lamm.

“Dominic brings physicality and athleticism to our defense and we think he’s versatile enough to play inside or outside for us,” Scelfo commented. “Ed’s a talented player coming from a state championship program that has been productive throughout his high school career.”

Scelfo fulfilled his mission of recruiting the state of Louisiana first, as 23 of the newest Lions hail from the Pelican State. Scelfo, who was hired just over a week before the February signing day in 2018, was pleased how his first full recruiting season panned out.

“This was the first class here I’ve had the chance to evaluate all the way through the process,” Scelfo said. “We were able to sign a large class to improve our depth and with the majority of them being high school players, also build a foundation for the future. We addressed our needs, especially on defense at linebacker and in the secondary. We’ll be asking some of our freshman to contribute right away and we’re excited to see who is able to step up this fall.”

Southeastern will open spring practice on March 12 with the Annual Spring Game set for April 13 at 2 p.m. as part of Super Lion Saturday. The Lions open their 2019 schedule at home, hosting Jacksonville State on Aug. 31 at Strawberry Stadium.
