Sky Sox walk off with series sweep of Baby Cakes

Colorado Springs – Jacob Nottingham smoked line drive to right field and Nate Orf scored from second base to give the Colorado Springs Sky Sox a 7-6 walk-off win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes.

The ‘Cakes and Sox battled back and forth throughout the contest. New Orleans tied the game in the top of the ninth with a solo home run from Jonathan Rodriguez before the hosts won it in the bottom of the frame.

Angel Ventura earned the win in relief after a blown save in the top of the inning. Jumbo Diaz suffered the defeat.

Cito Culver led the ‘Cakes with three RBI but the Sky Sox swept the three game series.

GAME NOTES: Peter Mooney has a hit in each of his seven games this season.

UPCOMING: The ‘Cakes travel to Oklahoma City to open a four game set against the Dodgers. The ‘Cakes will start RHP Ben Meyer (1-0) against Brock Stewart at 7:05 p.m.
