Shaw wins Jovany Cortes Duals at Belle Chasse
Archbishop Shaw will definitely contend for Division II honors at the state wrestling tournament in Baton Rouge next month.
The Eagles continued their fine season Saturday, moving to 9-2 overall by winning the Jovany Cortes Dual Tournament at Belle Chasse.
Shaw downed Archbishop Rummel 50-23, beat host Belle Chasse 62-18, defeated Chalmette 60-24 and whipped Pearl River 63-6.
Rummel and Chalmette wrestled to a 42-42 tie with Rummel getting the nod for the win by criteria. The Raiders also defeated Pearl River 59-24 and defeated Belle Chasse 48-19.
Belle Chasse edged Chalmette 36-30 while the Owls downed Pearl River 47-36.
