Second weekend of Louisiana high school football playoffs features seven rematches

The rematch theme continues in the LHSAA prep football playoffs this weekend.

In Class 5A, No. 2 Captain Shreve (10-1) squares off with District 1-5A rival Parkway (7-4). The Gators whipped the No. 18 Panthers 46-21 at home in the regular season on Sept. 30. This time, the game is at Parkway.

In Class 4A, No. 4 Northwood (8-2) has to travel to District 1-4A rival and No. 20 seed North DeSoto (6-5).

The two rivals just played on Nov. 5 at North DeSoto with the Falcons emerging victorious in a close 13-7 contest.

In Class 2A, No. 4 Avoyelles (9-2) plays host to No. 13 Winnfield (7-4) in a rematch.

The Mustangs defeated the Tigers 40-12 at home on Sept. 30.

Unbeaten second seed Loreauville (11-0) has a rematch at home against No. 15 Franklin (6-3) in a District 7-2A rematch.

The Tigers outscored the Hornets 47-42 on at Franklin on Sept. 24.

In Class 1A, No. 3 Grand Lake (9-1) meets District 4-1A rival and No. 14 seed Oberlin (5-6) in a rematch at Grand Lake.

The Hornets beat the Tigers 27-20 at Oberlin on Oct. 8.

No. 6 Haynesville (6-4) entertain No. 11 Lincoln Prep (7-4) in a District 1-1A rematch.

The Golden Tornado prevailed 43-12 at Lincoln Prep on Oct. 28.

In Division I, No. 2 Jesuit (8-0) hosts No. 7 John Curtis Christian (5-3) at Tad Gormley Stadium Friday night at 7 p.m. in a game you can listen to on NASH ICON 106.1 FM and watch live at CrescentCitySports.com.

The Blue Jays beat the Patriots 17-13 on Oct. 15 at Hoss Memtsas Stadium.
